Thank you for helping build this database. Parametric Pricing allows the user to quickly, but accurately, estimate costs based on key characteristics of the project which can be linked to historical data for other similar projects. Over time, the responses to this questionair will be presented as a distribution by characteristics of the relocations. No names will be associated with the data. The data will be managed by the web-master and presented in table form. A place for identifying yourself to the web-master is provided at the end of this data-gather if you would be open to sharing your experience if ever requested. All requests are managed through the web-master who screens and brokers calls based on your desires. The goal of this parametric database is to create a supportive community of people who have experienced the challenges of relocations and are open to helping new people along the way. There are three sections at this time; Facility Preparation, Equipment Moves and Employee Moves. Fill out only those sections for which you have data. Additional information which would be helpful to another person working on a relocation project can be included in Comments within each section.

"Facility preparation" covers all the activities required to make the new location ready to receive people and equipment. Parametric is based on the amount of preparation required, total cost of preparation stated on a square-foot basis.
Moderate: All of the above plus, upgrades to the building's electrical, plumbing and IT backbone. Sealing the floors, adding internal walls.
Major: All of the above plus, upgrades to the structural elements of the building including HVAC and overhead cranes. Special foundation work, loading docks, additional buildings required.
Extensive: Greenfield start-up or total renovation to the existing structure. Major new systems added such as Plating, Waste treatment and paint lines.
Slight Moderate Medium Extensive

"Equipment" is identifying the total cost for relocating the equipment from one location to another. Parametric is based on the total cost of the move, equipment characterization and number of pieces moved.
1. Type of equipment moved. Use the following definitions to characterize your equipment.
Simple: Can be moved by hand or with pallet jacks. Is easily packaged and moved on a standard truck. Requires no special electrical work or foundation. Tables, bins, shelves, carts, hand tools, pedestal tools would be examples.
Standard: Can be moved with a fork lift needing little special rigging or handling. Requires a flatbed truck to move. Tends to move as "one-unit" and bolts down to a standard foundation, requires no plumbing, and uses "drop-down" electrical lines. Lathe, drill press, brake, rollers, mill would be typical examples.
Complex: Can be moved with a crane or heavy duty fork lift and requires special handling and rigging. Isolation pad required, special plumbing sometimes a consideration. Made up of multiple units, such as controller, coolant system, tool changer, and machine itself. Special leveling requirements usually needing lasers. Grinders, lasers, large CNC lathers, VTL would be typical examples.
Highly Customized: Combination of the other three usually combined into a "system." Multiple trades required for installation. Special building needs are required, special permits for air and water required. Automation, robots, part handlers common. Flexible Manufacturing Systems, paint lines, vacuum furnaces, processing tanks are typical examples.
